Modernization & IIoT

Modernize today. Built for the next decade.

Many productive lines still run on controls installed ten or twenty years ago. AranVision helps you bridge that installed base toward IIoT- and AI-ready operations in stages that respect production—so you gain data, diagnostics and resilience without a risky rip-and-replace.

Where operations are heading

The direction of industrial automation, 2026 and beyond.

These are options to evaluate against the installed system, available evidence and project requirements. They are not capabilities guaranteed by every device or a promise of a specific operational improvement.

Technical references: IO-Link device descriptions and OPC UA PubSub transport and QoS. Confirm device-specific functionality in the applicable manufacturer documentation.

A staged path

Four steps that respect production.

01

Assess & stabilize

Baseline the installed base, interfaces, failure modes, data sources and success criteria. Fix the reliability and documentation gaps that block any modernization before adding new layers.

02

Connect

Expose data without ripping out working controls: add edge gateways, IO-Link masters and OPC UA/MQTT publishing to the existing PLCs and instruments, with secure OT/IT separation.

03

See

Turn the connected data into condition monitoring, dashboards and digital-twin views that operators and engineers actually use, with alerting tied to real operating thresholds.

04

Predict, then prescribe

Grow from condition-based to predictive and, where it is justified, prescriptive guidance—always with human-authorized actions and a maintainable handover, not a black box.

Retrofit, not rip-and-replace

Add capability to the line you already run.

Modernization earns its keep when it protects uptime. The usual first move is to make the existing controls observable—edge gateways alongside the current PLCs, IO-Link at the sensor layer, and OPC UA or MQTT publishing to a supervised OT/IT boundary—so data and diagnostics arrive before any hardware is disturbed.

From there, condition monitoring and digital-twin views are built on real signals, and predictive or prescriptive maintenance is introduced only where the data and the payback support it. Every step is scoped, tested and documented for handover.

Vendor-agnostic, and honest about boundaries.

AranVision works across Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, Schneider and supervisory platforms, and recommends what fits your installed base—not a single brand. Controls software, integration, data connectivity and commissioning are delivered directly; regulated professional engineering, safety-function certification and required approvals are assigned to the appropriately licensed or authorized party before that work proceeds.

Modernization FAQ

Practical answers.

Do I have to replace my PLCs to get IIoT data?

Not always. Start by checking the installed controller, available interfaces, vendor support, security requirements and required data. A compatible gateway or interface may preserve working controls; replacement may be needed when support, performance or risk requirements cannot be met.

Is “self-healing” automation real?

The useful question is which failure and recovery behaviours can be tested on your system. Buffering, failover or a supervised restart may be appropriate. Neither an AI tool nor the phrase “self-healing” establishes safe recovery or authorizes an automatic restart.

Will AI agents control my process directly?

Only within explicit, human-authorized boundaries. Safety functions, interlocks and regulated approvals stay with the responsible licensed or authorized party. AI and analytics support decisions; they do not quietly take over control.

How does a modernization engagement start?

With a scoped assessment of the installed base, data sources, interfaces and goals. That produces a staged plan with clear responsibilities, so you can modernize in verifiable steps instead of one high-risk change.
